Support Services

In keeping with our commitment to provide a broad range of excellent services and programs, Glenkirk Support Services expands our scope beyond residential and vocational offerings and provides additional, essential support services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our Support Services embrace a "whole person" philosophy through which Glenkirk provides all services and support to meet the needs of each individual.

Glenkirk Early Intervention is also known as Glenkirk D.A.I.S.I.E.S. (Developmental Assessment and Intervention Serving Infants through Education and Support). This program is designed to help infants identified as “at risk” for developmental delays through a variety of services, which emphasize early therapeutic intervention and family involvement.

Glenkirk Respite Care was established in response to a need for planned “breaks” for families caring for their child at home. Glenkirk pioneered the concept of respite care in Illinois for people with developmental disabilities in 1976 and continues to provide quality, short-term relief to families throughout Northern Illinois.

Glenkirk Adoption Services conducts state-required home studies and foster-care licenses (where applicable), and works with couples and singles to help them fulfill the legal requirements of adoption. Glenkirk’s adoption services expanded during the spring of 2002 to include placement of children from Ukraine, Guatemala, and Bulgaria with loving families.

Glenkirk Program Utilization and Consumer Advocacy strengthens Glenkirk’s ability to defend and uphold the rights of all of the individuals Glenkirk serves and advocates for each person to receive the all the benefits and opportunities available to them.

Glenkirk Social Work provides both psychological and behavioral services, supports individuals and families and promotes the concept of community integration through group outings and community activities.

Glenkirk Ancillary Services provide occupational, physical and speech therapies enhancing an individual’s ability to communicate and integrate into a community setting.
